Al Jazeera Satellite Channel News has purchased its first Vizrt system to support its on-air graphics needs. The system at Al Jazeera includes two Viz|Trio character generator systems that can be expanded further in future. “This is the first time we are supplying a Vizrt system to a customer in Qatar and we are very happy with its performance,” says Kamal Alattar, technical manager for Salam Media Cast, which undertook the supply and integration of the solution at the Al Jazeera site. “The Vizrt system is very simple to use but is capable of creating very sophisticated looking graphics. It can render graphic animations for live TV programmes on the one hand and can be equally applied to post-production and webcasting. It brings huge benefits to TV broadcasters and production houses that want to design graphics for sports, news, weather, entertainment and other programmes where the situation changes quickly and new graphics are needed to reflect the latest picture,” he adds. The Middle East is rapidly becoming one of Vizrt’s top regions for growth this year. In the second quarter of 2005, the company predicts that it will generate revenues of roughly three quarters of a million dollars from the Middle East market alone. Major Vizrt installations have already been undertaken at MBC, ART, Dubai TV, Sharjah TV and Ten Sports.
