Air Algerie's latest fleet addition, a Boeing 737-800, left Boeing Field in Seattle yesterday for its new base at Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algiers. The north African carrier now has a total of 13 next generation 737s, comprising five –600s and eight –800s, which makes it one of the largest operators of the type in the region. Another two 737-800s will join the airline’s fleet in August of next year. "Air Algerie is following on a steady course of growth that utilises the superior economics of the next generation 737 coupled with exemplary service and a dedication to quality for its passengers,” comments Hamid Zeghmi, Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ international sales director.
