Electronic Arts (EA) has announced that the launch of the most anticipated game this year, The Godfather, will be delayed until 2006. The action-adventure title was scheduled to be out by the end of this year, but according to EA the ‘Open World’ element of the game, which allows characters to move freely through it, is not quite ready. The Godfather game for Xbox, PC and Playstation 2 will be available by the end of March 31, 2006. Although EA added that a version of the game for next-generation consoles such as the Xbox 360 would appear later on, no specific dates have been announced. The game - based on Mario Puzo’s book and Paramount Pictures’ classic film – enables gamers to create their own mob character, relive classic moments and experience open-world game play alongside memorable characters from the film. “The Godfather is one of the most cherished franchises in entertainment,” said David De Martini, executive producer at EA Games. “Releasing the game in early 2006 allows us more time to perfect the open-world experience of being a member of the Corleone family.”
