HP has set up its first training centre in Lebanon in partnership with systems integrator CIS Group. The NonStop Education and Training Centre has been set up to offer courses to both channel partners and end users on IT giant HP’s high end NonStop server platform, as well as provide training on related HP hardware and software offerings. “When we make sales to customers part of that involves provider training, especially on high-end equipment. Customers need to be shown how to use it to get the maximum benefits from their investments. We also want to continue the education of our channel to improve their sales skills and boost the services they can offer to customers,” said Juggie Govender education business manager at HP Middle East. The vendor hopes that the centre will appeal to partners and customers across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Demand for courses such as these are high and this is one of the few training centres to offer them in the entire region. The centre is attractive to those working in the Middle East, as it is the first of its type to provide training in Arabic. “Previously we have always had to send people over to Europe for training, but it is much better to do this training locally, providing a cost benefit, as well as the advantages of hands on training. The courses will run in conjunction with online offerings too,” said Govender. CIS group plans to use the centre to enhance the ICT knowledge and skills in the Middle East and Africa markets, train HP customers on high-end technologies, including the CIS, and to educate as many integrators and users as possible on new HP products. The NonStop training centre is aiming to run at least two courses a week and Govender estimates the centre will train 24 partners a month to begin with, but with four classrooms there is plenty of room for growth. The project has been jointly funded and marketed by HP and CIS Group, but HP will provide all the training engineers. Other HP training centres, focusing on different offerings from the vendor are located in Dubai, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
