Proxy appliance manufacturer Blue Coat has announced a strategic alliance with Synergy Professional Services (SPS) to facilitate technical training for Blue Coat products in the region. SPS will become the only Middle East authorised training centre for Blue Coat products and will offer training programmes tailored to both end users and resellers. Blue Coat sees increasing reliance on IT to meet business objectives as a key driver for the market and aims to use the training partnership to help establish it as a serious security player in the region. Blue Coat has highlighted a number of impressive qualities at SPS, including what the training firms dubs the largest remote lab and training facility in the region. SPS has invested US$2.5 million in equipment and technology at the facility, which is based at Dubai’s Knowledge Village. The training centre has the capacity to run 25 advanced Cisco Labs courses in parallel each week. “Our products are cutting edge and in SPS we have a partner that is knowledgeable, competent and can provide us with the necessary training support in the region, be it directly to the end user or our numerous resellers and partners,” says Nidal Taha, regional technical manager, Blue Coat Middle East. Blue Coat manufactures products that add visibility and control to web communication in a bid to protect against spyware and web-borne viruses, as well as shield against vulnerabilities caused by inappropriate web surfing, instant messaging (IM), video streaming and peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing. Blue Coat puts emphasis on training as well as technology, with the rationale that technology can only work if utilised correctly. “Productivity and resource losses brought on by internal or external security breaches can be resolved through proper product training,” says Taha. "With the assistance of SPS training professionals, we intend to make sure that essential knowledge is disseminated to our system integrator partners and end users as soon as it becomes available,” he explains.
