Oki Printing Solutions announced a number of awards for Middle East distributors at its recent annual partner conference in Florence, Italy. Partners gathered from across South East Europe and the Middle East for an update and review of the vendor’s business strategy and an awards ceremony. Also announced was the launch of a new Oki Academy partner programme, specifically aimed at driving market growth in the Middle East. The winners were Qatar Computer Services, which picked up prizes for top distributor in the Middle East and best colour Non-Impact Printing (NIP) distributor; Utmost Electronics from the UAE bagged best fax distributor; Setco from Syria won the prize for being the best mono NIP distributor and Egtcon from Egypt was awarded the title of best Serial Impact Dot Matrix (SIDM) distributor. “This is the second year running we have been awarded the best distributor award,” said Sebastian Joseph, product manager Oki at Qatar Computer Services. “We are very pleased, as the prize is for the whole Middle East. If you take the volume sales of Oki products country by country, we actually sell nearly as many products as Saudi Arabia, which is a much larger territory. We sell on a ‘try before you buy’ basis and we hardly get any product sent back.” The new Oki channel programme is targeted at the SMB sector, and ties in with increased presence in the region, following the launch of a Middle East office earlier this year. “Since Oki has come to the region, it has done a lot of brand building. We are happy to be getting more support from them and we are also looking to expand our number of Oki resellers now,” said Raj David, head of sales office automation division at Utmost Computing. The Oki Academy programme will provide channel partners with support in terms of sales, marketing, research, technical assistance, training and certification. It is segmented into four different categories: bronze for distributors carrying SIDM and all other non-toner products; silver for mono NIP and multi function products (MFPs) including faxes; gold for colour NIP and MFP products and platinum for partners carrying the executive series.
