FedEx Express has announced the appointment of Tayssir Awada, as managing director of its Middle East operations. Awada has spent the last 11 years working for FedEx in Dubai, and has launched a number of customer service initiatives, winning a number of company awards in the process. In his previous role, managing the regional customer service function across the Middle East, Indian Sub-continent, Africa and Central Asia — a role he will maintain — Awada lead the introduction of next day by 10:30 am delivery services from the Middle East to Europe and North America, set-up a distribution network enabling delivery by 12 noon across the GCC, launched the industry’s first 24/7 customer service in the UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain as well as creating a network of FedEx World Service Centres, which provide customers with convenient package drop-off points in those countries. He also managed the regular rollout of new processes and technologies across customer service centres in the region, providing customers with an enhanced experience of dealing with FedEx. His team has won several FedEx international awards while Awada himself has been honoured twice with FedEx’s prestigious Five Star Award in 2001 and 2004. “Tayssir brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the task of running the FedEx operations in the Middle East. His leadership enabled FedEx to expand its customer services significantly over the past eleven years in the GCC and we look forward to benefiting from his leadership qualities over the wider canvas of the Middle East,” says Hamdi Osman, regional vice president, FedEx Middle East, Indian Sub-Continent and Africa for FedEx.
