Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), the organiser of regional IT exhibition Gitex 2005, has announced that 80% of stand space for the show has already sold out. Rapid growth of the IT market in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is making Gitex — celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2005 — a top priority for IT companies from around the world. “The response from exhibitors has been tremendous this year as we celebrate 25 years of serving the needs of the IT industry,” said DWTC International Project Manager, Claire Winfield. “The success of Gitex in attracting top exhibitors from around the world is a clear reflection of the phenomenal growth of the IT market in the MENA region that is set to grow by almost 94% from current levels to US$13.4 billion in 2008,” she said. With less than three months until Gitex 2005 begins, DWTC is preparing itself for a massive influx of IT professionals from around the region and across the globe. Pulling together vendors, distributors, integrators and putting them in direct contact with technology professionals and decision makers from the GCC, Middle East and Africa, India, Iran, Levant and Pakistan, DWTC is once again bracing itself for 100,000-plus visitors to the show. Gitex 2005, running from September 25th to 29th at the Dubai World Trade Centre will include vendors showcasing a wide range of IT equipment as well as exhibitors from the telecommunications, networking, software and services industries. Gitex 2004 attracted 939 exhibitors representing 2,428 companies from 41 countries. The record-breaking event covered 27,504 square metres and attracted 116,346 trade visitors.
