Oman Mobile is turning to Cisco Systems to design and implement an end-to-end IP communications services network, providing for its current needs and planning ahead to meet future requirements. “Competition has become a defining element of the mobile phone market today in Oman and demands that anyone looking to succeed in this industry offer quality service, efficiency and new products tailored for specific customer segments,” says Dr Amer Awadh Al-Rawas, managing director of Oman Mobile. Cisco System’s solution for Oman mobile’s networking infrastructure includes all QoS-enabled IP converged network routers and switches, IP telephony systems and applications, and seamless wireless and mobility solutions. “The network backbone we have installed ensures that we will be able to cost-effectively and quickly scale our operations as the competition in the market demands and enable our employees to operate more efficiently. The integrated and secure IP telephony and wireless systems we have deployed are the best-in-class in Oman and in the region,” Dr Al-Rawas continues. The products deployed as part of this solution include Cisco’s Catalyst 6500 series switches, Aironet Wireless portfolio, and IP telephony product set, all of which were implemented by Gulf Business Machines (GBM). “We are pleased that we have had the opportunity to work closely with Oman Mobile on its state-of-the-art infrastructure, which represents a model for innovation and an example of how technology can best be utilised to improve operational efficiency and business performance,” says Khaled Delaware, territory manager for Cisco Systems.
