Healthy food tops menus at Radisson hotels

Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts is introducing a range of healthy foods to its restaurant menus at hotels across the Middle East.

Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts is introducing a range of healthy foods to its restaurant menus at hotels across the Middle East. The full service hotel brand has designed the ‘Food for Thought’ campaign to give guests a well-balanced and healthy menu with dishes that include low-carbohydrate and low-cholesterol choices. The existing menus, particularly in the speciality restaurants, will have selected options available, and every healthy option dish will be marked with the ‘Food for Thought’ logo for easy recognition. Pascal Gadet, executive assistant manager at the Radisson SAS Hotel, Kuwait, along with the hotel’s kitchen team, came up with the idea of introducing a healthy alternative to some of the most popular menu choices. Gadet developed the Food for Thought concept, and was careful to avoid words like diet, healthy and fit. “I was looking for a phrase that was easy to relate to and would link food indirectly to the health benefits,” he explained to Hotelier Middle East. “By including the word ‘thought’, hopefully people will make this link. So basically ‘Food for Thought’ symbolises food in which a lot of thought has gone into, both in choosing the individual ingredients and the preparation process,” he added. The Radisson SAS Hotel, Kuwait, rolled out the Food for Thought concept at a recent Chaine de Rotisseurs dinner, held at the hotel. “We have seen particular success with room service options, where the Food for Thought menu is offered in addition to the existing menu. Also, in our Chinese restaurant with its ‘die hard’ traditional clientele, the selected Food for Thought adapted dishes are selling equally well,” Gadet said. The packaging and the approach of the menu is that of a trendy designer menu, which seems to attract customers who appreciate the emphasis on ‘balanced lifestyle cuisine’. “We are not offering diet food, instead we offer completely balanced, healthy food, but not to extremes. The philosophy behind the concept is that you benefit in the mid- and long-term once you have embraced this type of cuisine within your daily routine, making it part of your lifestyle,” Gadet said.
