Advanced Broadcast Services has won the contract to provide the playout for B4U Network, which includes B4U Movies and B4U Music. B4U is one of India’s leading television networks. All of B4U Network’s operations – ingesting, archiving, scheduling and playout - have been consolidated at the Advanced Broadcast Services site in West London and Advanced Broadcast Services has invested in new technology, including a Sony PetaSite library system, to ensure it can meet B4U Network’s specific needs. The Sony PetaSite, which forms the backbone of the new facility, includes two SAIT-1 data-tape drives, an ethernet hub, fibrechannel connectivity and a terminal server. Its 1.2 petabytes capacity allows all B4U’s movies to be transferred from tape and held at the ABS facilities ready for playout. In addition to the PetaSite, ABS is expanding its existing Pharos Playtime media management system from 15 to 30 channels. Playtime will control ingest from a Sony Flexicart to a Pinnacle RAID server, play-to-air from the RAID and delivery of programmes and interstitials to and from the PetaSite archive. The result for B4U Network is greater efficiency and lower management costs. “We are delighted to extend our existing contract with Advanced Broadcast Services and we are confident that they will deliver a comprehensive service to meet all of B4U Network’s complex worldwide transmission requirements,” says Sunil Rohra, CEO, B4U Network. “Their investment in implementing the latest technology systems, will ensure that B4U Network is able to streamline its current broadcast operations and provide advertising clients and viewers alike, with an accomplished broadcast service in all regions,” he adds.
