An-Nahar, a Beiruit-based news company, has named HP as its strategic IT supplier. CIS Lebanon integrated the project on behalf of HP, installing a full portfolio of HP Proliant servers StorageWorks storage and HP OpenView software to update the company’s IT system. “The partnership is a step towards the future. By mixing the best in technology and the best in news, our readers are assured to get the best information by the most sophisticated and up-to-date solution available in the market," said Gebran Tuéni general manager at An-Nahar. The partnership was announced earlier this month in Beiruit. “This partnership is testimony to our widespread market penetration in Lebanon and our successful strategy of continuously introducing new products that benefit the media and communications industry,” said Joseph Hanania, managing director at HP Middle East. The project includes a tailor made archiving system that has enabled two million documents to be categorised, including 72 years of newspaper articles and over 700,000 digital pictures. A search and retrieve system is also planned, with a view to making an estimated 5,000,000 pictures available to journalists. The HP logo will appear on An-Nahar’s website, demonstrating that the company is ‘powered by HP’. "The partnership with HP will give An-Nahar access to the latest technologies long before they are available in the market, which will help us prepare the ground for a better use of this technology, and let our readers benefit from any technological development that takes place. An-Nahar has always been a leader in implementing, developing and spreading newspaper trends in the Arab world, and HP is a leader of innovation in technology trends. One of our common missions is to help the community gain the necessary information in various ways for a better understanding of the facts,” concluded Tuéni The project is among several that have been completed in the region by CIS Lebanon’s parent company, CIS Group, which has an established relationship as an integrator for HP.
