Gitex Shopper will double in size for 2005 with organisers Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) announcing the addition of a new exhibition hall at Airport Expo to cater for growing interest in the event.

Gitex Shopper will double in size for 2005 with organisers Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) announcing the addition of a new exhibition hall at Airport Expo to cater for growing interest in the event. The annual IT retail extravaganza, which coincides with the Gitex trade show, attracts visitors from around the region looking for a bargain. Gitex Shopper 2005 will run from the 24th to 30th of September. “With the extensive technology convergence in the industry and aggressive retailing techniques, Gitex Shopper 2005 will provide vendors, resellers and traders a powerful platform to promote and market their wares,” said Pankaj Nadkarni, project manager at DWTC. According to Nadkarni, last year’s week long Gitex Shopper produced on-site sales of US$15.25m and pulled in 108,000 punters spending an average of US$141 each. As well as UAE consumers, the event also attracts visitors from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, India, Iraq and Pakistan.
