Jabra outlines expansion plan

Mobile phone accessory vendor Jabra is attempting to establish a dedicated Middle East office before Gitex this year.

Mobile phone accessory vendor Jabra is attempting to establish a dedicated Middle East office before Gitex this year. The vendor’s products have been available in Dubai since 2003, and Saudi Arabia since September 2004 and it says that an office is the next step in its regional expansion. “We are interviewing people to work in our Dubai office. Jabra will be getting a sales and marketing manager and after that we will be establishing training and call centre, at the beginning of next year. We’re still working out where we are going to put people, in Dubai and possibly in North Africa. We are targeting sub distribution partners in Iran and North Africa. Over the next three months we are really hoping to get into Morocco, and increase our business in Tunisia,” said Vincent Peña, Middle East regional manager for the Middle East at Jabra. Jabra, which specialises in Bluetooth products, has a master distribution deal with Alpha55 and its range is distributed in Saudi Arabia by Modern Markets, part of the Ahmed Abdulwahed Anam Group. Jabra only deals through the retail channel in the UAE. Jabra wants to have its office set up to enable it to turn its attention to forthcoming product releases, which it has planned for the event. “For us, its all about re-inventing the Bluetooth portfolio. Really overhauling the headsets, music is a very big thing in phones at the moment, so we will definitely be hoping to capitalise on that. The convergence between phones and PCs are making a lot of exciting and complicated scenarios for headset use,” commented Christian Sparrevohn, vice president of strategy and product management at Jabra. “We want to show the Middle East that we are in the market for the long run. We want, and we will be, one of the major players in this region. We had a small booth at Gitex last year, but this time we will have a much larger presence,” he concluded.
