Federal government reviews eProject tracking system

The UAE’s Ministry of Finance and Industry's e-government team is updated on the eProject implementation road map and the developments so far.

Headed by HE Ibrahim Abdel Malek, under secretary for the Ministry of Public Works (MoPW), the e-government team of the UAE’s Ministry of Finance and Industry (MoFI) has discussed the latest developments in the implementation schedule of the eProject system. MoPW has been assigned by the e-government executive committee to oversee the project. Held in the Ministry of Public Works’ headquarters, the meeting was attended by Dr. Emir Mavani, the federal e-government programme director at MoFI, and Ahmed Bin Ghannam, e-government programme manager in Etisalat’s business unit, eCompany, which is the technical partner of federal e-government for all the ICT needs of the project. Dr. Mavani submitted a detailed explanation of the initiatives already undertaken and the forthcoming steps in future. He asserted that the project is on track and ahead of schedule. The first phase of the project was planned to be undertaken in three to four months, but it took only nine weeks thanks to the comprehensive efforts from MoFI and eCompany. The implementation of this type of system is necessary to support the goal of effectively connecting all the processes in the country with the e-government system, enhancing performance and services while maintaining the highest standards of quality. In line with the initiatives of the federal e-government, this system will offer 15 electronic services and the Ministry of Public Works and other ministries are expected to start using two services at the end of this year, and the other services will follow later. In a meeting organised to discuss various approaches towards tackling the execution of the electronic projects system, HE Abdel Malek highlighted the need to coordinate the efforts of the executive project teams, all the ministries and federal parties that contributed to the effective implementation of this system to the benefit of the stakeholders. “This system will help simplify the process of tracking various federal projects, thereby helping the ministries to track their projects more intensively. It will also enable suppliers and contractors to update projects data and information, because the system will connect the ministries and federal parties in retrieving all reports and information through a central data system,” he says.
