Epson has added another new digital projector to its expansive 3LCD range with the launch of its EMP-S3 model. Designed for use in both classroom and office environments, the EMP-S3 employs three LCD panels, offering what Epson claims is improved brightness and overall performance. The EMP-S3 replaces the firm’s popular EMP-S1H, offering 1600 ANSI lumens brightness, SVGA resolution and a contrast ratio of 500:1. It is also compatible with higher resolution SXGA computers, giving greater flexibility in terms of the range of sources that can be displayed. For users on a serious budget, the projector’s ‘economy’ mode of 1400 ANSI lumens brightness extends its lamp-life to 3,000 hours, also making the EMP-S3 for suited to use with interactive whiteboards or in low ambient light conditions. Also designed to be easy to carry, the EMP weighs just 2.5kg. It also touts a quick start-up time of just five seconds and its ‘One Touch-off’ function means there is no cool-down time – it can be simply switched off and packed away immediately.
