CA has launched eTrust Anti-Spam software, an anti-spam and fraud detection solution targeted at the region’s small to medium size businesses (SMBs). This solution is the latest addition to the company’s eTrust PC security portfolio, which includes anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall solutions for regional SMBs. “According to a recent IDC report, spam messages sent daily worldwide have jumped from seven billion in 2002 to 23 billion in 2004. Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and anti-spam companies also report that spam currently represents 50-95% of all inbound internet e-mail messages,” said Ned Jaroudi, regional marketing director at Computer Associates. “CA’s eTrust Anti-Spam is designed to help SMBs and individual users in the Arab world to protect themselves and their PCs from this growing security threat,” added Jaroudi. CA’s anti-spam solution blocks unwanted and unsolicited e-mails by building and managing an approved list of senders. The solution also prevents ‘phishing’, a method used by hackers to send spoofed e-mails with the aim of duping recipients into providing personal information such as their credit card numbers. eTrust Anti-Spam software is available through CA’s authorised dealers across the region. A free trial version can also be downloaded from www.ca.com/arabworld.
