One in 10 Syrians survives on less than US$2 a day, according to a joint Syria-UN study of poverty among 18 million residents. A total of 10.4% of Syrians live on less than US$2 a day and three Syrians in 1,000 survive on less than US$1, according to the 2005 study by the Syrian office of statistics and the UN Development Programme.
