Hard drive vendor Maxtor will bring its Backup Awareness campaign to this region in September. This will see it target channel partners and end users with the joint aims of educating the market on the importance of backing up, and increasing its share of the region's external hard disk market. Maxtor kicked off its Backup Awareness Month two weeks ago in the US, but has delayed rolling out a similar campaign in Europe and the Middle East due to the lack of impact it might have during the summer months, according to Jean-Frédéric Bistagne, director of Maxtor EMEA’s Branded Products Group. “This campaign will be really to stress the importance of backing up your data,” added Bistagne. “All our worlds are now more and more filled with digital data, so we'll want to stress not only that backup is critical, but also – thanks to products such as our OneTouch SBE – that it’s not a problem.” “All it takes is one unfortunate circumstance such as a virus, system crash, or theft and your data could be gone forever,” added Stacey Lund, vice president of marketing at Maxtor. “As a leader in external storage and backup, we want to educate consumers and business owners to backup before an unfortunate circumstance happens. So many people come to us after they've already lost their data, we want to turn that around. Backup shouldn't be an afterthought.” As part of its EMEA awareness campaign, Maxtor will provide materials and info to its regional distributors and resellers, as well as marketing and media information aimed at consumers and small business users. For a full small business guide to backing up your data, don't miss the August edition of Windows Middle East magazine, on sale throughout July.
