The Middle East’s booming print market is putting a major exhibition on course for a full house, say its organisers. Gulf Print, organised by event firm Fairs & Exhibitions is due to take place in December at the Dubai Airport Expo, and is already 90% sold out. Research by the UAE Printers Association estimates that the printing business is growing by between six and seven per cent a year, and is one of the Emirates’ top ten industrial sectors. The growth means that the Middle East currently constitutes 15% of the global print technology market. Many of the suppliers are from China. Gulf Print project manager Lina Alousta, said: “This has prompted international print manufacturers and suppliers to focus their interests on Dubai as a strategic point between East and West, where demand for print technology is high and rising.” Among the Chinese firms is Purple Magna, represented locally by UAE agent Adel El Aidy, who has taken a 100sq metre stand at the event.
