HP has unveiled two new inkjet printer models for SOHO users. Its Deskjet 9803 and Deskjet 1280 families are the latest products from the firm’s ‘Fall ’05’ collection of Imaging and Printing products to hit the Middle East, as showcased at HP’s recent ‘technology fashion show’ in Dubai. Targeted at budget-conscious small office and home office (SOHO) customers, and the region’s increasing number of small–medium sized businesses (SMBs), the Deskjet 1280 is a budget A3 wide-format colour inkjet, while the 9803 is aimed at firms looking to ramp up their in-house publishing to the next level. “Posters, flyers and even billboard size images can be brought to life with amazing clarity and quality with this new range,” said Thomas Valjak, category manager, Imaging and Printing Group, HP Middle East. “With the HP Deskjet 1280 and HP Deskjet 9803 series, we are proving that great, impactful results, easy functionality and cost effectiveness are becoming the height of fashion for every creative home and business across the Middle East,” he added. The firm’s new Deskjet 1280 printer is being billed as the affordable buy of choice for cost-conscious SOHO and micro businesses. Offering colour prints from A6 (postcard) to A3 in size, the 1280 HP features PhotoREt III colour-layering technology and higher optimized print quality for producing vibrant, natural colour images. Speed wise, it can run off mono documents at a speed of 14 pages per minute and colour prints at speeds of up to 11 pages per minute in fast mode. Its quoted monthly duty cycle is 5,000 pages and the 1280 can support media weighing up to 280g/m2. For those SOHOs who are looking to expand their in-house printing function, the Deskjet 9803 series can produce general office documents as well as speciality marketing materials from postcard to poster size. Via its combination of up to six inks using high-volume HP Vivera ink, HP claims its 9803 series offers exceptional image quality and results that will last for years. For better productivity, the 9803d series offers an automatic two-sided (duplex) printing. HP will now continue to unveil products and solutions from its Fall ’05 collection, headlined by the firm’s first ever color LaserJet all-in-one machines (HP LaserJet 2600 and 2800) and its first A2 desktop large-format printer - the Designjet 70/90.
