DigitalSkys has purchased and installed a 5IF broadband IP VSAT networking hub from iDirect Technologies. The purchase of the hub will enable DigitalSkys to build the next generation IP networking platform with services aimed at Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India and Australia. The hub will be based at CYTA (Cyprus Telecommunications Authority) teleport with direct links to London. The initial service will be offered on NewSkies NSS6 and NSS7 satellites, which allow for true global coverage. DigitalSkys will partner with IP Access International (IPA), an independent provider of wireless voice, video, and data. IPA and DigitalSkys will combine networks, giving them global coverage. “This partnership will provide our customers with a very robust network and allow us to roll out numerous products into the EMEA markets,” says Bryan Hill, president of IP Access. By teaming DigitalSkys’ applications and service-driven approach with iDirect’s technology, the telecoms provider hopes to be able to provide these key regional markets with a robust end user experience. Through the network deployment, DigitalSkys plans to initially serve the corporate, private and governmental sectors, including oil and gas utilities, financial, security and defence, regional telcos and other enterprises requiring high quality bandwidth for running critical business applications. “We see great opportunity in the EMEA markets. This partnership will continue to extend our reach into these growing regions,” says John Kealey, president and CEO of iDirect Technologies.
