McAfee has appointed Kenan Abou Lteif as territory manager for Saudi Arabia and pledged to increase channel support as the security software vendor looks to drive adoption of intrusion prevention solutions (IPS). “I am excited about this new role,” said Abou Lteif. “We have outlined three different focus areas for Saudi. On the customer front, we plan to strengthen the relationship with our existing base and be closer to them.” “On the partner front, we are looking to consolidate ties with our family of resellers and Elite Partners and provide them with continuous support. And lastly but most importantly, we want to create more awareness that McAfee is not just an anti-virus player, but more a total IT security solution provider. The focus here is on increasing awareness of new trends in security protection, namely IPS and vulnerability assessment,” he added. “IPS, unlike traditional anti-virus protection, is a proactive measure to actively monitor and prevent threats before they occur. Being the biggest IT market in the region, Saudi is very important for McAfee for further growth in the Middle East. However, awareness levels are rather low and we have to work on advising our customers about the latest technologies and best practices in the IT security space,” Abou Lteif concluded. Abou Lteif joins McAfee after a seven-year stint as sales manager for self-service solutions at NCR Corporation. McAfee claims that it is now one of the few vendors in the market capable of addressing all areas of IT security. The product range includes its enterprise-focused IPS solutions, IntruShield and Entercept.
