eCompany, Etisalat’s internet service provider arm, has added a new feature to www.etisalat4me.ae with which customers can freely sign up to the firm’s dial-up internet service. Etisalat claims this will save customers time, as they won’t need to be physically present at an Etisalat office. It will also save them AED 100, which is usually charged as a registration free, though of course they must first find an internet connected PC at which to log onto Etisalat’s site. With the current charge for an hour in an internet café roughly standing at AED 3 per hour, this translates to a saving of AED 97 compared to when applying for dial-up service by visiting an Etisalat office. Using this feature, users wanting to opt for Al Shamil’s broadband service will also save AED 100 through a 50% reduction in installation fees. Existing Al Shamil customers can also upgrade to higher packages for free, rather than paying standard upgrade fees. These upgraders will also pay 50% less for wireless ADSL modems, receive 50MB of free e-mail storage, and benefit from free Norton Anti-Virus and Personal Firewall protection, as well as Etisalat’s own Anti Spam Plus cover. Etisalat claims this package represents a customer saving of up to AED 1,349 (US $367). After successfully completing the online application form, customers can always call eCompany’s 24/7 internet help desk on +971 800 6100 for further inquires and follow up.
