Component supplier Asbis has signed a distribution deal for Europe, the Middle East and Africa with Supermicro products. Asbis will carry a full range of the US vendor’s server products, including motherboards, chassis and accessories in 26 of the 70 countries it operates in, including keeping stock in its Middle East distribution centre. Asbis believes that the vendor’s products will help it capitalise on the high-end server market in the region. “The full range of Supermicro products stands head and shoulders above the competition by delivering industry-leading performance at extremely competitive prices. I am positive that our customers are going to appreciate it,” said Laurent Journoud, executive VP of sales and marketing at Asbis. Supermicro claims to be the fastest growing server company in the world, and claims to hold nearly 20% of total worldwide Intel Xeon platform sales. “We specifically selected Asbis as a key distribution partner due to their positive track record in computer component sales and their massive market presence across the emerging markets of Europe, Middle East and Africa,” said Wally Liaw, VP of international sales at Supermicro.
