The Kharafi group of Kuwait has placed a firm order for an Airbus Corporate Jetliner (ACJ), with delivery expected in September this year. The Kuwaiti company was the first customer for the ACJ in 1999, with Twinjet UK starting operations for the company on a mixture of company business and ad-hoc charters. The order also makes the Kharafi group the first repeat private client for the ACJ and, like its first aircraft, it will be operated by Twinjet UK. “We have been delighted with the reliability of the Airbus ACJ as it has worked well for us on company business, as well as for charters in the market place,” said Nazzer Al Kharafi, chairman, Kharafi group. The ACJ has a cabin twice the width of traditional business jets, however, finalisation of the cabin design and the selection of a cabin outfitter is still undecided. “Winning repeat business is always a great encouragement, and we are very happy to be continuing our partnership with the Kharafi group,” said Richard Gaona, Airbus vice president executive & private aviation.
