Dubai Holding has added Emirates Team, which competes in the Formula 1 Powerboat Racing World Championships, to its sports sponsorship portfolio. The deal comes hot on the heels of the conglomerate’s recent deal with the Emirates international football team. “Dubai Holding is delighted to be sponsoring the Champion Team,” said Khaled Al Malik, chief executive of Dubai Industrial City, a member of Dubai Holding. The Emirates Team is owned and managed by the Abu Dhabi International Marine Sports Club. And, unlike the emirate’s football team, Emirates Team has proven its worth on the global stage, having won the F1 World Powerboat Championship in 2004. “Powerboat racing is a sport in which the UAE team has proven that it can excel and rise above a global field of contenders to win the world championship,” Al Malik said. “We believe that in sponsoring the Emirates Team in the Formula One Powerboat Racing Championships, Dubai Holding is helping to improve the level of the sports in the country and ensuring that the United Arab Emirates is well represented internationally,” he added.
