Remember "My Yahoo," or "My MSN", how about my Google for a change? Google has started to offer a new service, personalized views of its webpage allowing users to include their gmail account, favorite sites and news sources into a single space. Google’s move seems to heat up its competition directly with Yahoo, MSN and other Web portals. The service is currently in beta at http://labs.google.com, it displays several Google services such as gmail , weather information and news. Despite claims by Google Chief Executive Eric Schmidt that his company’s core business is search and is not a Web "portal ", the new service, judging from its current offerings, is definitely heading that way. While Google seems trying get more advertising money out of this service, it is distancing itself from the word portal so that users are not repelled by that concept which feels a ‘sticky’ or stubborn webpage, that has become hateful for many.
