New to the region storage vendor Swissbit is set to launch its products in the Middle East and Africa through distributors Golden Systems and Better Business. Swissbit offers storage modules for desktops, servers workstations and notebooks, alongside USB flash memory and CompactFlash cards. The company has been in operation since 2001 and produced over 3.5 million units for worldwide sale in the last year. Geographical coverage is still to be finalised, but Golden Systems and Better Business have been named as the regional distributors for the Middle East and North Africa, except Saudi Arabia. “We are hoping to penetrate the market through the retail channel,” said Ehsan Hashemi, regional sales manger at Golden Systems. “We are in negotiations with some of the bigger retailing distributors and hope to have the products available in the shops by the end of May. We’re starting with the USB and flash memory devices and in a couple of months we will move to the storage module products,” he continued. Better Business is looking for more resellers to join it and help bring the Swissbit products to the marketplace. “Swissbit sells original Micron products, which are more expensive than a lot of the OEM products that dominate the market here, but they are high end, quality products. We have a very positive outlook for Swissbit memory in the marketplace. It’s going to take a little time to establish, but we are working with Swissbit on an advertising and marketing campaign to help boost its presence in the market,” says Belal Suboh, memory product manger at Better Business distributors.
