Emke Group, owner of Lulu hypermarkets, is investing AED 20 million (US $5.45 million) in a rollout of SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. The company says the deployment will help it improve internal efficiency as it embarks on an ambitious store opening plan. “This alliance will definitely work as a catalyst for us to be ahead of current market needs and position us for growth,” said Yousuf Ali, managing director, Emke Group. The group has recently opened new Lulu stores in Umm Al Quwain and Ajman, with hypermarkets at various stages of development at Barsha and Jumeirah in Dubai, and at Sohar and Darsait in Oman. A contract has been signed with an unnamed Saudi partner to establish hypermarkets in the country in the next two years. The deployment of SAP software will help EMKE develop customer loyalty programmes, online shopping services and home delivery services, according to Ali.
