ARINC has been chosen to provide advanced passenger check-in systems and related technologies for Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 3. As part of the airport’s US $4 billion plan to construct the terminal, ARINC will also provide extensive design, project management, supply management, installation and commissioning for mission critical airport systems. “This is the largest single airport IT contract ever awarded to ARINC,” stated Graham Lake, vice president for Europe, Middle East & Africa, ARINC. “We are excited to partner with Thermo and even more pleased to support the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation’s efforts to anticipate travel demands of the 21st century. ARINC will deliver technologies to make Dubai’s new terminal 3 one of the most efficient airport facilities in the world,” Lake added. As part of the agreement ARINC will install its iMUSETM common-use passenger system, AirVueTM flight information display system, GateFlowTM resource management system, AirDBTM airport operational database and ARINC SelfServTM common-use passenger check-in kiosks. ARINC will also interface its solutions with newly installed systems from third-party contractors, and will integrate new terminal 3 and concourse 2 technologies to the existing airport infrastructure. The US $45 million project confirms ARINC’s position as an airport integrator, able to fulfill complex requirements in a number of systems, density of mangement and short deployment schedules with completion expected in April 2007. ARINC is part of a consortium led by Thermo, which was awarded the mechanical, electrical and plumbing contract for the airport’s expansion phase II, terminal 3, concourse 2 and car park. “Having formed a consortium with ARINC for specialised airport systems, ALCATEL for telecommunications and Linkforce for global project management, Thermo has brought together a combined expertise, experience and quality that is unprecedented and unrivalled in this field,” said Alan Sporle, general manager, Thermo.
