Géant has teamed up with HSBC and Visa International to introduce what is believed to be the UAE's first co-branded hypermarket credit card, Géant La Carte. Users of the card receive points that can be redeemed for Géant shopping vouchers. “Research reveals that the retail industry of the region as a whole is set to quadruple by 2010. This means more competition among retailers and the need to offer value added benefits to our customers,” said Jean Marc Le Brun, group general ganager of Géant Hypermarkets. “The launch of this co-branded card is pivotal to growing consumer loyalty, especially in a swiftly growing market such as the UAE. Add to this bullish population growth forecasts, and clearly this is an exciting time to be entering this market.” Lester Wynne-Jones, regional head of personal financial services at HSBC, added: “We believe that successful partnerships with leading brands are a very effective way of meeting our customers’ needs. By offering Géant La Carte, cardholders will receive valuable benefits while shopping for their daily requirements.” Géant’s first UAE store opened in March at the Ibn Battuta Shopping Mall. Retail Arabia, which holds Geant franchise rights for Eastern Gulf countries, also runs a store in Bahrain and plans to open further Geant outlets.
