Computer Associates (CA) has completed a business unit alignment designed to enable the vendor to be accountable to business and customer needs, and more responsive to the changing dynamics of the management software marketplace. “CA is in a unique position to address a critical need of its customers,” says CA president and CEO John Swainson. “No other technology company possesses the deep experience and broad product portfolio necessary to help customers manage and secure enterprises as a single entity— across platforms, systems, applications and technology stacks. We intend to build on this strength and consolidate our leadership position in enterprise management.” He says the business unit alignment is an organisational step to help support the company’s leadership position in enterprise management. “The business unit structure is a proven tool in the technology industry and is a natural next step for CA. We will maintain our focus on the integration of solutions and ensure this continues to be a competitive advantage.” CA’s business unit managers will now be accountable for all aspects of the management and financial performance of their business unit, including profit and loss, product development and innovation, product marketing, staffing, strategic planning and execution, and customer satisfaction. “These five business units will give us an effective way to meet our customer needs and market and develop industry-leading products,” says Gilbert Lacroix, CA’s vice president and general manager for the Arab countries. “In addition, we will still have a number of centralised functions to streamline the overall management of the group to ensure that we continue to think ahead in terms of customer needs.” The business units include enterprise systems management, security management, storage management, business service optimisation (BSO) and CA products group.
