Etihad Crystal Cargo is to launch a freighter service to Milan’s Malpena Airport. The twice-weekly service, which will start from May 12th, will be operated by the carrier’s recently-received second Airbus A310-300F. The A310-300F has a payload of 39 tons, and it will initially operate to Milan Malpensa on Thursdays and Saturdays. The flight will feed into road services linking Malpensa with other destinations in Italy and Southern Europe. “The current expansion of Crystal Cargo services into Italy will further strengthen Etihad’s position in Europe, reflecting the airline’s ambitious growth strategy and a continuous effort to develop a truly global network,” says Robert Strodel, head of cargo & mail at Etihad. Currently, Etihad Crystal Cargo’s A300-600F is flying from Abu Dhabi to Frankfurt, Amman and Mumbai. Additional points expected to be served in the next few months by the freighters include Khartoum, Almaty, Addis Ababa, Bangalore and Chennai.
