Acer Middle East has introduced a number of new initiatives and applications to improve the services its value-add partners can offer to the channel. The computing vendor has added an online server configuration tool and streamlined its server distribution model in order to make itself, and its partners, more competitive. The aim of the online configuration tool is to make sales easier, by offering a service for second tier channel partners to construct servers from hundreds of different components, and instantly come up with the price. The online system is practical and the vendor claims this is the first service of its kind available in the region. “With this feature, solutions providers will be able to quickly and conveniently ascertain which configuration is most suited to their customer,” said Andrew Lamb, business development manager, servers and storage at Acer Computers Middle East. “Rather than spending time waiting for a quote from the vendor, all the details they need are within easy reach on our website, which can then be immediately passed on to clients.” Acer has also cut down its server delivery times to distributors, making servers available to resellers one week after an order has been placed. “With prices that are extremely competitive, a product line that is customisable for every component, and industry-beating times from factory to customer, Acer offers a compelling advantage to solutions providers looking for that extra value-add,” said Lamb.
