International water consultant Metito has won an AED8 million contract to provide desalination and treatment services to an oil field development project in Sudan. The company has been awarded a sub-contract from the Peremba/INTEC/Sudan Pile Consortium, which is executing the project for Petrodar Operating Company, a government oil firm which operates in the south of the country. The work will involve setting up a two-stream water desalination and chlorination plant, which will provide optimum production and treatment of brackish water. This plant will have a capacity to produce 620 m3 of fresh water per hour, which is mandatory according to oil field project regulations. The company also plans to set up an oily water treatment plant using Induced Air Flotation technology. The project will be run from the Metito regional office in Sharjah.
