OnLine Distribution is planning a series of end user and channel seminars in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait to educate end users and channel partners to promote best practices in 10Gigabit Ethernet and data centre design. OnLine will be joined by its key vendors APC, APW, Avocent, Belden, Corning, Extreme Networks, Symbol and Transition. Entitled 10 Gigabit Ethernet and Data Centres, the seminars are billed by OnLine as a ‘must attend’ event for CIOs, IT managers, networking professionals, systems integrators and IT consultants from end users and resellers who are looking to implement best practices and the latest in networking and data centres. “10 Gigabit Ethernet is being used in many areas including LANs for enterprise networks, WANs for service providers, Metropolitan and storage applications (NAS and SAN), and fabric interconnects for server farms and storage servers,” says K Ganesan, divisional director at Online Distribution. “10 Gigabit Ethernet is now one of the hottest networking technologies that enterprise end users are very keen to consider for deployment,” he explains. OnLine says data centres are the most crucial part of any service provider’s IT facility. It has also become very important for enterprises due to critical ERP applications and its large network deployment. The growth in the deployment of 10 Gigabit Ethernet is mostly seen in application-specific servers, security and other network appliances, storage networks, and data centres. “10 Gigabit Ethernet has been gaining momentum and will find wide acceptance in the long term as the technology evolves and standards are ratified,” says Venu Menon, divisional director, Online Distribution. “The concept of data centres has also become crucial with increased deployment of servers in organisations, heavy reliance on IT and the need for physical and virtual information security,” he adds. Seminar dates: Abu Dhabi May 15 Dubai May 16 Riyadh May 17 Dammam May 18 Bahrain May 22 Doha May 23 Kuwait May 24
