General Electric has announced plans to establish its regional headquarters in Dubai Internet City. The US-based conglomerate intends to open an office covering 65,000 square feet and housing around 250 employees. It is expected to be operational by May 2006 and, according to GE, will make it the company with the largest presence in Dubai Internet City. In addition, GE said it will expand its operations in Abu Dhabi and Qatar. GE’s Gulf operations were first established in the 1930s. It employs around 15,000 people in the Middle East.
