Anti-virus vendor Trend Micro has designed two new suites of products and services that offer a multi-layered security approach, which when combined, provides enterprises with coordinated protection at the gateway, server and client points. As the first line of defence, the Trend Micro InterScan Web Security Suite integrates anti-virus, anti-phishing, URL filtering and anti-spyware technologies at the internet gateway. It can also block outbound ‘phone home’ communications containing private information and can initiate a cleanup of affected systems to remove any resident spyware. The Trend Micro OfficeScan version 7.0 suite is a set of tools devised to block unwanted spyware, adware, remote access tools, and hacking tools at the desktop. It protects network endpoints, such as desktops, laptops, and network servers, from various attacks with minimal impact on resources, the company said. It has customisable policy settings for individual or group users and integrates with the Cisco Trust Agent, a technology delivered by Cisco through the Network Admission Control (NAC) program, which helps enable security policy enforcement and defend against viruses and worms. “Trend Micro’s approach to security has always been to focus on the most efficient and effective places in the network to deal with the problem,” said Justin Doo, managing director, Trend Micro Middle East and Africa. “Our coordinated, multi-point enterprise solution for spyware is another example of how we have done that. And it is through Trend Micro’s Enterprise Protection Strategy that we are helping customers approach problems like spyware in a more comprehensive manner — we want our customers to focus on their everyday business, not on the next threat.” The company also offers Damage Cleanup Services, which are designed to automatically remove traces of attacks and restore clients and servers to their pre-infection state without administrator intervention.
