Post production firm, Condor International, which has offices in London, Amsterdam, Brussels, Berlin and Cape Town, has now opened a facility in Dubai. Rob Meddens, chairman and CEO of the firm calls Dubai ‘one of the most exciting emerging markets left in the world’. “This means a huge opportunity for the film and television industry in the region,” said Meddens. “I am excited that the already globally established Condor name is both expanding its network and leading the way in the post production field in the Middle East. Amidst an impressive line-up of latest industry equipment and software, Condor also has an Ursa Diamond Telecine. “It has already been hailed a triumph by local filmmakers as they no longer have to travel abroad to make use of that technology,” commented Paul Merrington, general manager, Condor Dubai. “I’m very confident that the highly-specialised talent we bring, combined with the industry’s latest equipment, puts us in a strong position to conquer the regional market. Other solutions at Condor include Flame, a range of Avid solutions such as the Avid DS Nitris HD, Avid Adrenaline and the Avid Express Pro. “The system can capture nine hours of video at uncompressed SDI resolution. We also have three Maya workstations to create and enhance the whole post production experience,” added Merrington. He added that the time was perfect to set up a top-tier post-production film facility in Dubai. “Dubai has proven itself to be at the forefront of filming and broadcast talent in the region. It makes sense with such a superb infrastructure and growing demand that high-grade post production facilities are available too.”
