Distributor and systems integrator Emitac is aiming for record profits in the next year, as well as pushing its operations in Saudi Arabia and the Levant. Emitac drove this message home at its annual conference held on April 25th in Dubai, UAE to over 100 vendors and resellers. The high profile event featured influential channel speakers from Microsoft, Oracle, Citrix, Cisco, HP and Symantec. Emitac’s revenue for the financial year 2004 was DHS 760m (US$ 180m) and they are looking to increase this by over 30% in this financial year. Mohammad Awad Daoud, Emitac solutions group executive vice president, remarked: “We have had a very good year, and we hope to do even better in this year, and break the one billion Dirham (US$ 270m) mark.” Suhail Issa, CEO at Emitac was keen to promote the company’s position as a full solution provider: “We are building the difference between an IT company and a technology company,” he said. He also outlined Emitac’s plans for the region over the next year: “Saudi Arabia is a major focus right now because it accounts for a major part of the market in the Middle East. Iran is also a target but a difficult area, as there are a lot of restrictions in place at the moment to doing business there,” commented Issa. He also unveiled plans for further investment in Emitac’s Jordan and Syrian operations, which he describes as “full one-stop shops, rather than one man bands.” The company aims to reach these sales through its value propositions: “At Emitac we have a lot to offer, including genuine local presence, our strong position as a systems integrator, presales consultancy, project management, quality assurance and localisation; which we recognise as more than just Arabisation,” said Issa.
