Al Habtoor Group, which owns Metropolitan Hotels International, is adding a new brand and two new properties to its resort portfolio this year. The company is set to introduce a total of three hotels under the Habtoor Grand hotel brand, designed to provide an upscale five-star product to its hospitality offering, and has unveiled its the new brand identity at ATM. In Beirut, the Al Habtoor Group is set to open the Habtoor Grand Hotel Convention Centre & Spa later this month. The Habtoor Grand Hotel Convention Centre & Spa, will be the highest building in Beirut, towering over the city at 130 metres. The new hotel will be linked by a bridge to the Metropolitan Palace Hotel, creating Habtoor City. The Habtoor Grand Hotel Convention Centre & Spa will offer 151 rooms, and will boast a convention centre capable of accommodating 2,000 delegates. Also set to open this summer is the Habtoor Grand Resort & Spa Jumeirah Beach in Dubai. This five-star resort will offer 442 rooms and will be joined by sister resort Habtoor Grand Resort Jumeirah Palm in 2007. “As a Middle East company it is important that we are strongly represented at ATM,” says David Danby, group director of marketing, Habtoor Hospitality. “As a wholly locally owned company based in Dubai, the Middle East will always be key to us. GCC business, both commercial and leisure, is very important for the Beirut and Dubai hotels. However, the UK and continental Europe is treated as a high priority for inbound business due to the level of visitors to the UAE from this region,” Danby adds.
