Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, the operating company of the Al Faisaliah Hotel and the Hotel Al Khozama in Riyadh, opened a regional sales & marketing office in Dubai on May 1. The Rosewood sales and marketing office in Dubai will be managed by Ron Cusiter, Rosewood’s regional director of marketing for the Middle East and Asia. Cusiter was previously based at the Rosewood operation in Saudi Arabia and has worked in the region for many years. “As more and more of our loyal customers take the opportunity of setting up their regional Gulf offices in Dubai, we of course recognise the ever growing importance of Dubai, and indeed the region, to our hotels in Saudi Arabia,” says Cusiter. “So, based on our customer feedback and their identified needs, we felt now is the ideal time to have our sales & marketing team actually located in Dubai. “With this new office base we can service both our existing customers as well as potential customers with an efficient ‘one stop shop’ for bookings not only for our Riyadh hotels, but also those in other key Rosewood destinations, such as Tokyo and Jakarta, which have also enjoyed substantial business growth in the past year from the Dubai and GCC outbound markets. “Also, with the recent introduction of the Emirate Airlines direct route from Dubai to New York, there exist definite opportunities to deliver business into our New York hotel, The Carlyle, located in heart of New York at Madison Avenue,” Cusiter adds. The US-based hotel management company has also hinted that a property in Dubai could be on the cards. “Another influencing factor in our decision to open the office is to explore potential hotel development opportunities from one of the worlds fastest growing economies. A Rosewood property in Dubai would, of course, meet our long-term goals of brand development in the region,” Cusiter remarks. Rosewood-managed properties in Saudi Arabia have enjoyed success in Riyadh, with the Al Faisaliah Hotel recently awarded the five-star Diamond Award by the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences for consistently maintaining the overall standards of high quality. “The five-star Diamond Award is the most prestigious emblem of achievement and true quality; an award many strive for, but few obtain. Winning this prestigious award is not only something that we are proud of, I hope it will be an award the whole city of Riyadh will be proud of,” says Michael Gibb, the regional vice president and managing director of Al Faisaliah Hotel.
