Broadband specialist Scientific-Atlanta has expanded its commitment to Asia and the Middle East by opening an office in Dubai. Scientific-Atlanta has taken the step to serve the expanding cable marketplace in India and Pakistan and take advantage of the attractive business climate of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). With projects underway or in discussion for the heavily populated India and Pakistan markets, the new Dubai office will enable Scientific-Atlanta to provide rapid response to customer requests. In addition, as new opportunities develop in the Middle East, the company can support those customers more efficiently from the Dubai office than from its European or Pacific locations. “The UAE is known as the technology centre of the Middle East and is famous as the business and tourism leader in the region,” says Brent Smith, Scientific-Atlanta’s director of sales for the GGC, India and Pakistan. “Locating our operations in the trading and business hub for the Middle East, India, and Pakistan makes sound business sense, much like having an office in Hong Kong for the Asia Pacific area. We plan to leverage our new location to expand our support for existing customers and as a base for increasing our ability to serve new organisations across the Middle East and western Asia.” Scientific-Atlanta is a manufacturer and supplier of products, systems and services that help broadband operators deliver integrated, interactive video, data and voice services to consumers. It has 6500 employees and offices and representatives in over 70 countries.
