The ‘Intel Developer Forum’ (IDF) will be held at the Conrad Hotel in Cairo on May 10. It will be the first such occasion that Intel will be organising in the Middle East region. Intended to provide technological insight into hardware and software developers in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa, IDF is expected to attract hundreds of developers. “This announcement underscores Intel’s recognition of the existing and potential importance of the Middle East,” states regional director Aysegul Ildeniz. “We have been working with developers in this region for many years now and it is clear that there is an abundance of talent in this area within the region,” she adds. Intel believes that combining the insight of its senior executives globally with local talent will provide a “considerable boost” to the region’s IT industry. Among the event’s addressers include Frank Spindler, vice president of the company’s sales and marketing group and director of industry technology programs. Spindler will be speaking about the latest developments from the company’s R&D department. Chris Thomas, chief strategist, and director of strategic initiatives solutions market development group, will also provide insight into the trends and emerging issues that are shaping the IT industry in the region. Shekhar Borkar, corporate technology group director of circuit research and Intel Fellow, will provide a glimpse into Intel’s latest efforts in driving platform architecture and future processor innovations, and how these innovations could address existing end user needs in addition to enabling future possibilities. IDF will contain over 200 hours of lectures, sessions and labs covering Wi-Fi and other wireless innovations. It will also examine digital home, gigabit ethernet, hyper-threading, infiniband, PCI Express, security advances plus mobile and modular platforms.
