Barclays Capital, the investment banking operation of Barclays Bank, has submitted an application to set up an office in the Dubai International Finance Centre (DIFC). A statement from DIFC said that Barclays’ “strength and leadership in debt financing and risk management will reinforce the capability of the centre to offer highly sophisticated financial services to companies and governments in the region.” "We are delighted that Barclays Capital has applied to the Dubai Financial Services Authority for a licence to operate from DIFC," said Dr Omar bin Sulaiman, director general of DIFC.
