Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon may postpone by three weeks the first evacuations of settler homes, according to news reports. Sharon was quoted by Israel Radio as hinting that he may agree to the postponement, saying that he wished to ease the plight of the evacuees as much as possible. Israeli Vice Premier Shimon Peres said a possible delay in Israel's planned pullout from the Gaza Strip is not political and would be purely for religious reasons. "It's not a political delay," he said. The withdrawal woudl take place after a religous period passes around August 14
