Intel is launching its first Software College in the Middle East with an aim to extend the value of Intel architecture, and encourage software professionals to expand their expertise on Intel platforms. The college will cater to a diverse range of audiences including software developers, manufacturers, vendors, consultants and educational institutions. The Software College is one of the global offerings of Intel Software and Solution Group (SSG) and its first training event in the Middle East was held at the company’s Energy Competency Centre in Abu Dhabi. This High Performance Computing class (HPC) involved a full, instructor-led training experience with hands-on laboratories to cover cluster setup from building to benchmarking, as well as application tuning for clusters. The interactive classroom size and collaborative setting provided all participants with a rich learning experience. Around the world, SSG focuses on developing and promoting comprehensive software development products and services to educate and enable industry professionals to work with Intel platforms and the Software College is a an integral component of the organisation’s outreach programme. “Our aim is to help accelerate worldwide strategic enabling and adoption of Intel tools and technologies through expert-level laboratory training,” says Sam Al-Schamma, Intel’s general manager in the GCC. The college will help regional developers to optimise Intel Architecture by using the correct tools to their fullest potential. This proven form of training will also offer support and guidance with tested methods of optimising software performance, code samples, tools and troubleshooting techniques, in a strategic move to foster best application performance. The curriculum at the college covers 32 and 64-bit computing, threading, multi-core, compiling and more and the courses will be delivered at convenient training locations around the region, all of which have been selected for their adherence to the highest standards. In addition, Intel Software College offers customised on-site training to fit a customer’s specific needs, as well as hundreds of on-demand, self-paced online courses and webcasts.
