Oman is expected to begin work on developing its part of the Hinjam field which it co-owns with Iran, Oil and Gas Under-secretary Nasser bin Khamis Al Jashmi said. The first exploratory well will be dug in July. He said that a memorandum of understanding had been signed with Ras Al Khaimah, under which the UAE emirate would buy the gas produced at Hinjam. Jashmi said the anticipated reserves were around one trillion cubic feet of gas, adding that the quantity of gas to be produced would be determined after digging the first exploratory well. He said Australia's Nuvos, which is currently exploring at the Bukha area in the governorate of Musandam, would carry out the project.
