EMC taps into KSA market

Storage giant ramps up its focus on Saudi Arabia by opening an office and working with its partners to promote its information lifecycle management strategy at Gitex Saudi Arabia.

Storage giant EMC will use this year’s Gitex Saudi Arabia to educate regional decision-makers about the concept of information lifecycle management (ILM), which ensures optimal management of a business’ constantly growing wealth of information throughout its life, from creation and use to archiving and disposal. According to Mohammed Amin, regional manager for EMC Middle East, an increasing number of regional businesses are relying on information management software to automate and administer heterogeneous storage environments. As such, EMC will be focusing primarily on software at Gitex Saudi Arabia as it discusses its storage-aware content management platform — EMC Documentum Content Storage Services. The vendor will also take time to highlight the company’s channel expansion plans, as the show provides EMC with a platform to meet its distributors and resellers from around the Kingdom. “EMC is focusing on expanding our channel community for both the enterprise and small- to medium-sized business markets. Gitex Saudi Arabia is the ideal time to showcase EMC’s information lifecycle management strategy to reduce costs and increase access to key information for Saudi decision-makers,” says Amin. “We hope to continue our success by using Gitex Saudi Arabia as a platform for signing further deals and meeting with our growing customer community. EMC is fully committed to the Saudi Arabian IT market,” he adds. Most recently, EMC’s commitment to the Saudi Arabian IT market has been borne out by its new office opening in Riyadh. Established to manage the storage giant’s growing list of clients and network of partners throughout the country, the new office is being run by EMC veteran Habib Mahakian, who has spent the past four years driving EMC sales in Saudi. Within the next twelve months and beyond, EMC intends to widen the geographic and vertical reach of its operations in Saudi Arabia, including promoting all the product lines of its newly acquired companies such as Legato, Documentum, Dantz & SMARTS, and to increase the skills base of its channel community. “EMC’s investment of resources in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will enable us to better understand the business needs of our existing customers, which include a number of Saudi’s most prominent organisations, while targeting new industry sectors and forging alliances with resellers throughout the country,” says Amin. “The drive for Saudi Arabian organisations to become more competitive, and the role that information plays today in customer and market share retention, are key factors driving the demand for information storage and management solutions from Saudi Arabian end user organisations,” he adds.
